A Taste of Guate

I got the pleasure of talking with one of my friends who is currently in Guatemala at the center to catch up on everything that is happening with the kids and ladies and got some photos! How exciting. It is only a month now until I leave and I am starting to get really excited. I can't wait to see my kids and to get to hug all the ladies again!

We finally got some gates for the Canary room to contain the babies where before we were barricading with Bumbo seats and Exersaucers. This is a great improvement! I am so excited for the ladies and the teams. We can get better use of the space and make their jobs easier!

Here are some pics -

Look at all the extra space now!! How awesome!

Rosa, a new addition. How precious is she!

Casey is growing like a weed!

Poor Josue with his buzz cut! Picture below for comparison...

He had so much hair! (the little one in the beige and blue)

One Can Only Hope

I have just been informed that Kaylee went home... I guess I am happy for her and her family but oh my goodness it just rips at my heart. She was doing so so well at the center and she was in such bad shape when she came in that I just wonder if anything could have changed at home in that short of time? Could it be a better situation? Maybe, but I doubt it. I knew that this day would come (as much as I dreaded it), but I definitely didn't think that it would be so soon! I though that I would get to see her and love on her once again in July, but maybe it is for the best. Maybe something did change at home and the parents got a better job and they can take care of her again... Maybe she will be so happy and well fed. One can only hope.

Until we meet again, my love, if not on earth than in Heaven.

It's Set!

Alright. My dates are set. No where near long enough but it is what is feasible in my budget right now. I am heading out the end of July, stay for 2 weeks at the center, and then a few days with Olivia in Antigua just catching up and I am sure doing some exciting things! I am planning on coming back here around the 14th of August.

I told one of the ladies at the center the plan and she is so excited, I assume by now the whole center knows!  One of the woman who went on a trip recently got the sweetest video of Kaylee playing peek a boo. I wish I could share it, but unfortunately facebook makes everything way too hard! Luckily I will get to see her soon and share many more videos!!

I am doing a fundraiser at my church of a lunch by donation and I am hoping and praying so hard that I am able to raise money fro my trip and lessen my financial stress. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I continue down this road of preparation and excitement!

A Little Update

As always, I am planning my next trip back to Guatemala. What can I say? I am in love with the Country and with the people. I am hoping to get there in August for about 2 1/2 weeks. Not long enough AT ALL, but all that my finances can really allow at this point (bummer hey? The whole relying on money thing.) Just think, When I get back from there in August I will be busy prepping to go back to school and then 8 months will go by and I will be that much closer to being in Guate full time!

Tonight I anxiously await Olivia's e mail letting me know about a couple things that we have talked about in order to make my trip down there cheaper :) I hope she has good news in store for me! If not, then I will take things how they are and roll with the punched. Fundraisers here I come!

Have any good ideas for a fundraiser? Leave it in the comments!
