Summer Pool Party!

This group is so fun! After a fun week with Alejandra and Olivia I was excited to meet this team and get back to work with my kids. Boy was I not disappointed. There are 32 people in total in this group and I am pleased to say that almost all of them are as delightful as they come. I have been really busy with the kids and this team. The babies here are so hilarious and I am sure I have said this so many times before but I can't even imagine leaving them in two weeks and then not being able to see many of them again as they go home.

Saturday Olivia and I came back from Panajachel and then she went into Guatemala city (For an amazing concert I couldn't go to because there were no more tickets!) and I stayed back at the hotel to relax a bit before the team showed up. When they eventually got here I found out that there had been a couple hitches in the plans. I immediately looked for Laura in the team and was confused when I couldn't find her... but then was told that she her flight had been cancelled and then delayed ect... so, she would come the next day... with all the lost bags! Yup, out out of the 32 people who traveled here, 16 of the bags got lost! That evening consisted of running around the town finding personal things for different people. When we finally got everything organized, it was time for bed, and bot was I ready!

Sunday is our day for ziplinnning and shopping, but unfortunately because this is Holy Week in Antigua there is SO much traffic. On the way back from ziplinning we were stuck in traffic for close to 45 minutes in a stand still!!

We finally got to the market and had a great time talking to the vendors and buying things.
Monday was our first day at the center and everyone had a great time with the kids singing and laughing and playing. This group had decided that they want to do a VBS with the "big" kids so they did that and the kids responded very well and were relatively good with the crafts and such given their ages.

Another day at the Center has meant another baby...two, to be exact. We had two new arrivals today- a set of sisters- Vilma and Jocelyn. One of our newest bunnies, Sergio, has been here for a little less than a week and is having a really hard time adjusting. Your prayers would be great for peace for that baby! Natali Noemi came back last week as well!

There are so many great things going on here this week. First of all, as of today, Andres and Gerson are officially DUCKS!! I can’t believe how much they are growing and understanding! It’s hilarious to watch them interact with each other and with the groups that come in.

Today Lucky (the Center administrator) decided we would celebrate the first day of summer by having a big pool party outside for the Ducks and Squirrels. I can’t even put into words how much the kids loved it! So many smiles, laughs, and squirt gun fights. I don’t think anyone has ever fit that many children in an inflatable pool! The fact that Luckey was in the pool as well was an added bonus!

This evening after the team left Laura stayed back with me at the center and while we were making the bed heard skreeking and people talking hurriedly outside the door. We went out to see what was happening and it turned out that the pipe in the Boy's bedroom connecting to the sink broke and we were being flooded out! There was water about 2 inches high all over the ground! We quickly got brooms and started sweeping it all into the court yard and tied and giant town around the pipe to try to soak it up but it wasn't working. Don Basillio came really fast and I guess he has plumbing experience because he started banging into the wall and chunks were flying out but he seemed to have it under control and after about 45 minutes the water finally stopped! Thank the lord!
There is no more water in the center now but... Hopefully tomorrow is a different and new day!

Sucena - Marta's Twin - Has started taking a few steps on her own today! Wonderful! Marta is already walking and being a little terror... so I am interested to see what Sucena's walking experience is like!
