Blanca Nieve (Snow White)

Today I had a lovely day with the new team. They got here and the little girls came running out to greet Cynthia and Ron, They were so excited to see them again. This is my third week here and I am forming lasting bonds with the ladies and the kids, I am dreading leaving more than ever. Tonight I was having a conversation with the nurse, Blanca, (she is very easy to converse with and has a very light, sweet spirit) and she stops mid sentence and says "I am going to miss you when you leave! When your six weeks are up I am going to close the door and not let you out!!" That is so sweet to me because I just wish I was able to express how much I liked her and how mush I appreciated her spending time with me and just talking, answering all my questions I may have.
She has made my time here so wonderful so far that I can't imagine leaving!

Later this morning when I walked into the comedor to spend some time with the older kids, one of the boys on our team (17) had brought out his guitar and was singing and playing for the kids, they were so entranced and amazed. It was a great experience for them.

There was also a big party today because it was both Cynthia and Olivia's birthday! We ate more than I thought I ever could (We had tostadas, another kind of empanada type thing, beans, and reianos - which are little "donuts" made from plantain filled with sweet beans- wonderful!), had a piniata, and songs, what fun! The kids (and the whole group!) enjoyed it so much!

There was a new little girl who was brought in today, her name is Irma and she is 1 year old and only weighs 12 pounds. She has had a really hard time being away from her family and has cried all night and eaten nothing. I am hoping and praying that tomorrow she feels better and is willing to be consoled and willing to eat.
